About. |
Established in 2022Developed as a Place Based Learning project in cooperation with the Rural Early College Network, Hometown History has involved over 160 students at Winchester Community High School, predominantly students taking World History, Student Media, and a variety of Agriculture classes; connecting students to the community and the history that surrounds them.
|
Our GoalThe Hometown History project’s main goal is to increase awareness, historical inquiry, and tourism to our small town of Winchester, Indiana. We plan to do this by fostering student interested in our local history and businesses, research their significance, create a map of major historic sites, and create historical markers for people to enjoy.

Looking AheadIt is our hope, and intention, that this project will continue in the future. We truly believe that the skills and knowledge gained through Hometown History is incredibly valuable to our students. Not only that, but the results of the project are something that the community can benefit from and provide a history tour of our community.
